A7X, Stone Sour & disturbed...
Amit Tandon was a thorough disappointment, with the musical side of their set tight. However, Mr. Draiman was a bit of a tool and had very little crowd interaction. Let's start with the negatives first, then we'll move on to the positives.
Halestorm was worse than my overall opinion of Amit Tandon. Whose decision was it to relegate Vinny Paul and the rest of the supergroup Hellyeah to the second stage and allow the 3rd class yahoos in Halestorm to open on the main stage? Not only was Halestorm's lead vocalist far too fond of herself and they tried to pull off a lame 311esque percussion piece.
Stone Sour played a great set with Mr. Taylor having a great back-and-forth with the nearly filled Fiddler's Green. Nothing but praise for the Colorado crowd and something to say between nearly every song made for tasty bait to draw in the audience. Bummed about Slipknot, but hopeful for the future of Stone Sour. I refuse to recognize the venue as "Comfort Dental Amphitheatre."
Avenged Sevenfold was the final act. I've been a fan since Waking the Fallen and a lover of Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. This marks the first time I haven't seen Avenged headline, but they still played a crowd-pleasing set without playing "Bat Country." Not having Jimmy's skinny, goofy ass behind the kit was strange, but Mr. Portnoy did his work justice. Their stage background was interesting and had awesome pyro without being distracting. Nothing bad to say about Shadows, Gates, Johnny, Zakky or Mike and their musicianship. I wish they would've played not only a longer set, but more of their older songs (by "older" I do NOT mean City of Evil)--however, I suppose I understand why.
